Urban chic wedding

Wedding date: October 8, 2011

Wedding theme: “It was Thanksgiving, so we focused on food/colours/items that had a harvest/autumn feel,” says Katie.

Guests: 90

Best moment: “Our ceremony might take the cake. We put so much thought into it; So much of our hearts into it. It was very very personal. We had one of our closest friends perform the ceremony. She did an amazing job! We asked another old friend to sing while we signed our papers. He killed it! We wrote our own vows. We thought hard about all the details and what they would mean to us. After all, the rest of the day happened because we were getting married. That was the most important part for us,” says Katie.

Favourite detail: “The seating charts were made with love and lots of glue guns. It was all so personal,” Katie explains.

Wedding song: “You and I” by Wilco and Feist. “It talks about making something that no one else has, the good and the bad. It’s (in my biased opinion) the BEST first dance song ever,” says Katie.

Honeymoon: “We live in Vancouver now. Planning and having a Toronto wedding certainly created some interesting moments. So after all the hoopla we were ready to escape to the quiet beauty that British Columbia is famous for. We spent some time on Galiano Island and then we went almost as far West as you can to Frank’s Island on Chesterman Beach in Tofino. Wine, food, fireplaces, and the ocean. It was heaven,” says Katie.
