When it came to planning their celebration, Reena and Nishil found a way to make it their own while still paying homage to their cultural roots. “We wanted to keep our theme relatively simple with mostly white and green flowers and pops of gold,” Reena explains. “Our first style of the day was a traditional Gujarati look of white, red and gold mixed with blue saris. After our Hindu ceremony we switched up the fashion with me wearing a boho dress from BHLDN and Nishil in a custom three-piece suit.” Surrounded by 260 guests, the newlyweds hosted their friends and family at The Symes, a space known for its urban atmosphere. With the room all chicly decked out, Reena and Nishil further personalized their day via their wedding music. The two worked closely with their DJ to ensure that each song played throughout the whole evening was carefully chosen and curated. “We spent our early twenties in clubs every weekend and wanted to ensure our reception was reflective of an R&B, Hip Hop and Reggae jam,” the two reminisce. “We insisted on a 90’s themed reception, so our friends and family could dance the night away, which they did.”
