5 Solid Reasons To Elope

There’s no one perfect way to plan a wedding, but some couples are overwhelmed by the mere thought of hosting any sort of large scale party.

Eloping obviously isn’t for everyone, but for many couples it’s the best (and only!) way to go. There are tons of benefits to getting out of town alone for your wedding, so even if you feel like you and your groom might be ill-suited to eloping, it’s definitely worth considering.

Here are five solid reasons to elope:

1. It’s cheaper!
This benefit of eloping is pretty obvious. If you’re looking for an affordable way to tie the knot, eloping is definitely the way to go. Most couples spend the majority of their wedding budgets on the reception venue, food and drinks so taking these costs out of the equation can save you thousands of dollars. Add to this the fact that plenty of hotels and resorts abroad offer sweet deals on wedding packages — plus you can combine the main event and the honeymoon to save even more!

2. It’s way more intimate.
The great thing about eloping is that it creates an opportunity to really savour the day with your groom. Consider the appeal of reciting your heartfelt vows in private (without a crowd of 200 onlookers) then enjoying a few hours of stress-free shooting with your photographer (without feeling like you have to rush off to a reception) before indulging in the ultimate date night dinner.

3. It’s ultra-romantic.
Why hold your wedding at home when you can do it somewhere like the Bahamas, Hawaii or even Italy?! You’ll want to tie the knot in the most beautiful and romantic setting possible, and eloping is a great way to guarantee a stunning backdrop for your vows.

4. It makes for some pretty gorgeous photos.
Who wouldn’t want to upgrade their wedding pictures with a stunning backdrop like the ocean or a mountain range? Once it’s all said and done, the only things you’re left with after your wedding are the photos and your memories, so you’ll want to make sure they’re as breathtaking as can be!

5. It’s a relatively stress-free option.
Planning an elopement-style wedding is much less stressful than arranging a large-scale wedding at home for so many reasons. First, you won’t have guests to worry about so there will be no chasing relatives for RSVPs, no fretting over the perfect seating arrangement, and no screaming babies or food allergies to contend with. If you’re eloping far from home you’ll also likely be in full-on vacation mode so any small hiccups throughout the day will seem fairly insignificant.
