- Cake by Bobbette and Belle in Toronto

From the designer: “I was inspired by the artwork of the Dutch Master Painters, but I wanted to interpret the wildflower feeling in a new way. I have long been a fan of antique ribbon embroidery and recreating the flowers out of ribbons of sugar and then hand painting them allowed me to create an intricate vintage garden. I love that the cake has an antique feel and that I created a sugar work technique that did not exist before. Trying new and innovative things is the highlight of designing for me."

Photography by Carlo Mendoza.

- Cake by Anna Elizabeth Cakes in Vancouver

From the designer: "I really wanted to stay away from what is traditionally considered 'pretty'. Since I usually use a lot of pink in my work, I thought this was a great opportunity to do something different. The beauty of nature constantly inspires me, so I decided to go with a more rustic, almost English country garden, theme. I combined some of my favourite plants, berries and blossoms with a modern tier construction and just a hint of glam using a 24k gold painted tier spacer."

Photography by Kim Kalyn Photography.

- Cake by Kate Green Cakes in Ottawa

From the designer: "My inspiration was to create a modern rococo feel for this wedding cake. Marie Antoinette and Paris are always popular theme requests and I love the prettiness and elegance of that era, but I wanted to honour today's less ornate aesthetic. I incorporated the Toile de Jouy print (so popular during that time period), and the gorgeous swagged crystals to echo the ornate chandeliers and opulent interiors. I then countered this with an updated clean simplicity and fresh colour palette of turquoise, lime and white. I love the play between linear and soft, pretty and striking – also turquoise and lime is one of my favourite colour combinations. I was catering to the sophisticated yet playful bride who wants something different, and thinks outside of the box."

Photography by Kathi Robertson.

- Cake by Jenna Rae Cakes in Winnipeg

From the designer: "The inspiration for my cake was petals. My signature look for a wedding cake includes a lot of delicate petals and handmade flowers. I think it adds a really soft feminine romantic touch to the cake. I cater to the bride who loves attention to detail, as I spend countless hours on my cakes making sure every aspect is thought out and carried out flawlessly. My favourite part of this cake is the big flowers cascading down the front. For me, the more flowers the better! I also like the little gold bud accents, I think it really adds a nice dimension to the cake."

Photography by Prairie Lane Photography.

- Cake by Layers Wedding Cakes in Halifax

From the designer: "The design of this cake was inspired by my love for chandeliers and all things white. The cake was created to appeal to brides wanting classic vintage elements in a modern style. The lace, made of sugar, was placed in a ruffle detail to give movement and elegance. The peonies have delicate ruffled petals to compliment the lace and for a little colour they were made a soft blush pink. Finally, the design element I love most, the sugar chandelier, was created in all white as a modern take on the crystal style."

Photography by Alex MacAulay Photographers.

- Cake by Luisa Galuppo Cakes in Montreal

From the designer: "Beautiful wedding dresses have long been a source of inspiration for me. Their rich fabrics, lace, textures and fine details lend themselves to the most elegant of cake designs! After discovering and, I must admit, falling in love with an image of a stunning couture blush wedding gown I was immediately inspired. It was very important to me that the cake flowed much like the dress, from the soft blush rosette 'skirt' to the subtly beaded 'bodice', it had to be seamless. What I love most about this cake is its ability to remain soft and delicate while still appearing intricate. This cake was designed for the elegant, timeless bride with a taste for sophistication and a heart for romance."

Photography by Kate Fellerath.

- Cake by Sophie Sucree in Montreal

From the designer: "My inspiration for this cake mainly came from teacups and so I decided that the theme should be High Tea. I’ve always loved how delicate, detailed and timeless teacups are. I tried to implement many different aspects into my cake, like the delicate pink roses, the dainty lace, the chintz print, the fresh pastels and even the gold detailing. What I personally love most about the cake are probably the roses. They are so pretty and classic.
