Mark Zunino’s Fall 2019 collection takes inspiration in the delicate movement of a feather, following the drifting motion of a swirling puff of smoke. Airy, delicate fabrics bring the vision to life and trail along the ground in hemlines that suggest gliding through the clouds with every step. Done in warm shades of blush, cream and ivory, Zunino’s gowns are sophisticated and chic, with a hint of old Hollywood glam.
There’s plenty of feather detailing to be found, in both literal and abstract versions. Skirts embellished with layers of feathers certainly play up the glamourous side of the collection, while more demure options include A-line ballgowns in layers of tulle that have been sculpted into feathers along the bust. For even more drama, sheer overcoats with floor-length bell sleeves have also been adorned with feathers to create truly eye-catching pieces.
In what continues to be a major bridal trend, illusion lace details are found along sleeves and necklines in exquisite floral motifs. Through expert placement of the illusion appliques, Zunino is able to draw attention to the arms, back or décolletage for subtle sex appeal. Thigh high slits and one-shouldered gowns are also sure to be hits this season for the fashion forward bride.
