Ines Di Santo Fall 2013

The Ines di Santo Fall 2013 collection was filled with the same unabashed glamour we’ve come to expect from the Italian-born Canadian designer, who creates her remarkable bridal couture in Woodbridge, just north of Toronto. This season’s line-up was almost exclusively mermaid gowns, a long-perfected specialty of di Santo. Featuring fascinating embellishments sure to please any bride who believes “more is more”, the Ines di Santo Fall 2013 collection included several standout pieces: a single-strap mermaid gown with a dramatic wrap-around lace detail spilling from one shoulder to the other, a crystal-encrusted mermaid dress in ethereal shades of silver and an asymmetrical lace mermaid gown with a removable peplum (the first we’ve spotted this season) were just a few that caught our eye. More befitting Hollywood royalty than a traditional princess bride, the Ines di Santo Fall 2013 collection displayed the designer’s preference for show-stopping statements over subtly. While some dresses, like the metallic thigh-high gown, were particularly daring, Ines di Santo also brushed elbows with subtly: a simple lace sheath with covered shoulders and bateau neckline may have been softer than most of her designs, but was equally glamorous. The Ines di Santo Fall 2013 collection additionally featured a selection of ball gowns, including a single-strapped blush number adorned with silk blooms, another di Santo specialty.
