Celebrity Couples on the Grammy Red Carpet

Fashion & Beauty

At last night’s Grammy Awards, the red carpet was buzzing with celebrity couples — like Heidi and Seal, Nicole and Keith and Jewel and Ty. The biggest statement definitely had to go to Katy Perry who revealed footage from her recent wedding to Russell Brand on a large train to a huge dress that hung behind her, while she sat on a swing high above the stage singing “Not Like The Movies,” a song from her latest album. The video showed Katy wearing a veil, exchanging rings and then kissing Russell.

Did you watch the Grammy’s? What couple did you love the most on the red carpet? I have to say Nicole Kidman has been looking happier than she ever has! Did you catch the camera on her while she was singing along to Katy Perry singing “Teenage Dream” and then later dancing to Ce Lo’s “Forget You”?

Kate & Camilla Do Lunch

Royal Wedding

Koffman's at The Berkeley

Yesterday Kate Middleton was spotted doing lunch with her future stepmother-in-law, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall. The pair dined at Koffman’s, located at The Berkeley, a luxury hotel in London. According to onlookers, Kate had a notebook in hand, possibly discussing the upcoming wedding and also listening to advice from Camilla about royal life. People.com was told Kate is going to be speaking to a handful of family members about royal life. Other things they may have had time to discuss? Well, both of their Prince’s were out of town — William at his base in RAF Valley, North Wales and Charles in Brussels.

Bye-Bye Split Ends

Fashion & Beauty » Hairstyles

For those of you growing out your hair for your wedding, split ends are pretty much inevitable, as you’re probably trying to maximize the time between cuts. If you do any heat styling or colouring, then you know exactly what I’m talking about. Instead of chopping everything off, there is actually a new product coming out in the market that will bind your split ends. Created by Nexxus, PRO-MEND is a new patented technology that literally binds the hair together. The real star product is the Split End Binding Overnight Treatment Crème ($15), which you put on before you sleep. Read the rest of this entry »

Classic Cocktails for Your Wedding

Planning » Planning » Reception Ideas

The Moscow Mule

Last night Nicole and I were invited to a Classic Cocktail party, put on by the LCBO, with special guest Janie Bryant, award-winning costume designer of Mad Men. As huge fans of the show, we were thrilled to go. Nicole even got a chance to speak with Janie and get her take on wedding dresses! (Stay tuned for that post). In addition to loving the show, I am personally loving this throw-back to ’60s-inspired cocktails and appetizers. If you’re looking for a signature cocktail for your wedding or even a theme for your engagement party or bachelorette, I suggest you consider going for a ’60s theme. Read the rest of this entry »

Valentine’s Faves: Augustina Fragrances

Fashion & Beauty » Skin Care & Makeup

What: Augustina Fragrances, $30-95

Why we love it: Recently picked up exclusively by Anthropologie online, the Toronto boutique launched its trio of private label fragrances in 2006. Owner Cristina Burgess named each of the three signature scents after streets she lived on. Roxborough (pictured) is a sophisticated scent, with rich and spicy notes, that linger into a powdery musk and is a great option for the winter, as well as the evening. Woodlawn, is a crisp citrus scent with notes of lime and woods, while Avondale is a decidedly spring scent with notes of lilac, peony and gardenia. The travel roller ($30) is perfect for your evening clutch or even for your honeymoon.

Kate Moss Engaged

It looks like another Kate is engaged in Britain and it’s none other than supermodel Kate Moss who said yes to guitarist of The Kills, Jamie Hince. According to People.com Jamie popped the question Tuesday night, with a 1920’s vintage ring. The date is also reported to be set for July 2 and Kate’s eight-year-old daughter Lila will be a bridesmaid. We suspect this Kate will have a completely different bridal style than Ms. Middleton. What do you think?

White Hot Dresses on the SAG Red Carpet

Fashion & Beauty

White was one of the hottest colours on the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) awards red carpet last night, with a handful of ladies stepping out in the ethereal shade. Amy Adams (pictured), chose a Hervé Leroux gown with an art deco structure to it. We could totally picture this dress for a black tie wedding, with ’20s-inspired accents. SAG winner and the very pregnant Natalie Portman looked radiant on the red carpet in a white Azzaro gown with subtle embellishment around the neckline. Also take note of the gorgeous Roger Vivier black satin clutch. When it comes to your wedding, don’t be afraid to use black accessories. It looks forever classic and you can be sure you’ll use it again.

Eva Longoria went with a slightly off-white Georges Hobeika Couture gown with a plunging neckline. While something this sexy might be a little too much for your wedding day, the pleating and draping is very flattering and romantic.

{Steve Granitz/WireImage/Getty Images}

E! News host Giuliana Rancic, opted for bright white too in a strapless Ema Savahl Couture gown. It felt very light and beachy, definitely a gown we could see for a destination wedding. Did you watch the awards? Any celeb dress you fell in love with?
