Modern Colourful Wedding In Toronto, Ontario - modern bride and groom

After more than a decade together, Hila and Shilo decided to tie the knot. “Shilo and I have been dating for 14 years,” Hila explains. We met through mutual friends at a dinner at Shilo’s. He had me with his delicious cooking,” laughs Hila.

The couple chose a relaxed, modern feel for their day. “The morning of our wedding was super relaxed. We stayed down the street from our venue at Le Germain hotel, and had a nice breakfast together,” Hila explains.

A personal ceremony was held at 2nd Floor Events, creating the intimate feel the couple hoped for. “The ceremony was a mixture of excitement, happiness and nervousness — everything you’re supposed to feel before marrying your best friend,” says Hila.

The couple’s reception was equally personalized with great music, amazing food stations and beautiful floral details. “The floral arrangements were definitely one of my favourite wedding decor details,” shares Hila.

An Elegant Gold Wedding In Winnipeg

A Romantic Winnipeg Wedding Inspired by Italy75

Jessica and Justin broke the typical wedding day into two separate events. “We first had an intimate destination ceremony in Rome, Italy with just the two of us, and then a month later we had a casual and fun reception with our closest friends and family back in Manitoba,” shares Jessica. The couple incorporated an Italian feel into their Canadian celebration, by having photos done at Winnipeg’s Hamilton Building.

A colour palette of gold and ivory was incorporated into as many of the days details as possible. “Our stationery and linens really tied in our colour scheme, which also complemented the old world charm of Bailey’s Restaurant, where we held our reception,” says Jessica.

To end the evening a grand candy bar was unveiled. “We made custom bags and served everything from jelly beans to sour peaches — it was a big hit with the guests,” says Jessica. The newlyweds agree they couldn’t have asked for a better day.

Kim and Richard agree they couldn’t have asked for a better wedding day. “This was the wedding of my dreams,” says Kim. “My older sister Krista had recently been married at our family cottage in Dwight, Ontario and I adored the setting. It was both magical and personal, since Muskoka is a place my family has been visiting since childhood.”

For their celebration, Kim and Richard went with a vintage-meets-nature theme. “Windermere was the perfect venue. It created a stunning setting for our marriage vows,” says Kim. “Also, with 120 guests, we were able to use the entire resort, making it a private getaway for our families.”

The couple’s ceremony was followed by an amazing dinner catered by Chef Andy and the Oliver & Bonacini team. “The food was amazing, the team showed their talents by highlighting local produce,” reflects Kim. “The compressed watermelon salad and beef tenderloin were the hits of the night.”

Kim says the live music during the reception was another highlight. “The band kept guests dancing all night. And they did three encores! We couldn’t believe so much fun could be had in one day,” she adds.

Champagne And Gold Wedding In Windsor, Ontario - bride and groom

A champagne and gold theme created a very elegant and romantic day for Krista and Jacob. “You pick colours and linens, and have a vision of what your day might look like, praying it turns out to be everything you hope. I can honestly say it turned out to be even more then I had hoped for,” recalls Krista.

The elegant decor was nothing in comparison to the moment the couple finally got to lay eyes on one another. “I couldn’t wait to see Jacob, the moment I started walking down the aisle with my dad all I saw was Jacob,” smiles Krista. “The room felt empty, as if it was just he and I. It truly felt like a fairytale moment.”

Once all the day’s formalities had wrapped up, the couple couldn’t wait to celebrate with their guests. “Our reception was so fun, and we both danced the night away. To have our friends and family come together and laugh and dance made us want the night to last forever,” says Krista.

A Foodie Wedding On Ward’s Island

Jennifer and Matthew’s guests were welcomed in style by champagne freezies, made by the groom who is a chef, as they stepped off the ferry boat that transported them from Toronto’s downtown to nearby Ward’s Island. “For us, Ward’s Island feels miles away from Toronto, it almost felt as if we were having a destination wedding there,” shares Jennifer.

Upon arrival, guests were invited to board a private trolley that the couple called the ‘Wedding Express,’ which headed to the church where the ceremony was to take place.

After the ceremony the guests were escorted back to the Ward’s Island Clubhouse for the reception. “At the reception our guests enjoyed drinks, including a signature cocktail we named ‘Double Happiness,’ which was made of sake, cranberry and orange, as well as an array of hors d’oeuvres,” says Jennifer.

Once the wedding party arrived, a three-course dinner was served, with each dish prepared by a different chef from Toronto including the groom. The party carried late into the night with dancing and late night snacks. “At around 11pm we served a whole roasted pig and set up a self-serve taco bar custom prepared by Chef Steve Gonzales of Toronto’s Valdez,” says the bride.

Iris and Steven met through the groom’s aunt and uncle. “Three months after being introduced we started dating. We went to dinner and each knew we had found a life partner. We were so comfortable and knew we could fully trust one another,” shares Steven.

For their big day the couple wanted a romantic celebration filled with gorgeous flowers. “I love flowers and wanted them to be the main décor of my wedding,” Iris explains.

The couple chose to do a first look in their venue’s beautiful garden. Iris says this was one of her favourite moments of the day. “Steven is always better at fully expressing feelings. His overly joyful facial expression was absolutely priceless,” smiles Iris.

Winter Wonderland Wedding - navy and grey groom

The idea of a winter wedding captured Alaina and Tanner’s hearts early on in the planning process. “We wanted to be different then most. I think winter weddings are beautiful and unique,” shares Alaina. A rich colour palette of navy and gold perfectly complemented the couple’s snowy surroundings.

Like true Canadians, chilly weather did not hold Alaina and Tanner back from taking advantage of the beautiful winter wonderland backdrop. “Taking pictures outside, with our skin exposed more than any sane person would want during winter, is something we will never forget,” laughs Alaina.

After pictures the bridal party headed to the local legion hall, where they were greeted by family and friends. A warm meal was happily welcomed, as kind words were shared by the bride and groom’s friends. First dances followed, and the rest of the evening was spent celebrating on the dance floor with loved ones.

Garden Party Wedding In Uxbridge, Ontario - bride and groom

Kate and Matt knew right away that a wedding outside the city was a must for their wedding day. “We wanted to take our guests on a journey that was a reflection of us,” says the bride. “We wanted to capture the outdoor elements of our golf course venue, with the elegance of a garden party,” she continues.

The couple chose to incorporate their love of board games into the reception. “Our families are big into hosting game nights, so we brought some of our favourites for our guests to enjoy,” says Kate. “During our reception, to make us kiss, our guests had to putt on our mini putting green, which followed with our golf and games theme.” Games were also incorporated into the reception decor with a Jenga guestbook and signs created using Scrabble tiles.

The couple also brought many DIY elements into their day. “Our DIY project ideas were mostly conceived by me, but unfortunately I am not terribly artistic, so most were executed by Matt and with help from our friends,” laughs Kate.

Memorable moments seem to take place naturally by the waterside for Kim and Mike. “Mike proposed on Cannon Beach, in Oregon. We were walking along the beach and he got down on one knee where the waves crashed on the shore, and asked me to marry him,” smiles Kim.

The couple chose to have their reception and ceremony at UBC Boathouse, beside the marina. “The venue really sold itself, you couldn’t ask for a more breathtaking location to host your event,” shares Kim. The venue was decorated with help from family and friends of the couple. “My father made the white pedestals, grass troughs, wooden planks and much more. Mike’s mom was a huge help too and grew all the wheat grass, while a family friend prepared all of our flowers,” says Kim.

A highlight of the evening was during the ceremony, when the groom performed “Heaven” by Bryan Adams on the guitar. “As he played the sun began to set, streaming golden light across our faces and filling the room with love and warmth,” reflects Kim.

Highschool sweethearts Eloina and Lloyd’s wedding was 16 years in the making. “It’s not every day you get back together with your childhood boyfriend and get married,” laughs Eloina. “After only three years of being apart we reconnected and have been together ever since.”

The couple decided on a traditional Filipino ceremony at the church Eloina grew up attending. “For us it was the most important part of the day, we were finally going to be united in the eyes of the church,” shares the bride.

The reception decor was just as lavish as the couple’s cathedral ceremony venue. “The reception was breathtaking,” explains Eloina. “Our tables were draped in white with pops of gold and each table had a four-foot crystal chandelier for a romantic feel.”

Sunny Country Wedding In Manitoba - country wedding

It was Pamela’s father that introduced this Manitoba couple. “My dad worked with Michal and they became good friends. When I came to visit and first met Michal it was honestly love at first sight,” Pamela shares.

Pamela and Michal chose a rustic country wedding theme with an yellow and ivory as their colour scheme. “This theme matched our intimate space, and enhanced all the bright sunflowers and daisies used in our wedding,” explains the bride.

One of the couple’s favourite moments was being alone together for the first time as husband and wife. “After the ceremony we drove to our photo location, just the two of us, it felt so amazing,” smiles Pamela. Their wedding vows were another highlight of the day. “It was one of the best moments because we were finally up there at the alter, making the most important promise to each other,” explains Pamela.

Rustic Chic Wedding in Riding Mountain National Park - bride and groom

Rhela and Terry returned to the place where Terry popped the question, Riding Mountain National Park, for their rustic-chic wedding celebration. “The sun was shining, there was a light breeze, it was the first beautiful day of summer and it was perfect,” recalls Rhela.

The couple agrees that their ceremony included some of the best moments of the day. “Our three-year-old son Chase, made his way down the aisle holding a sign that read ‘Daddy here comes Mommy’. He definitely stole the show,” laughs the bride. The ceremony was short and sweet, so the celebration could begin as soon as possible. “Our entire family is from Saskatchewan and we were so excited to be able to spend the day with loved ones who had traveled to share the experience with us,” says Rhela.

Brittany and Justin chose a vintage, rustic theme for their special day. “Our theme went well with both our personalities. We both work outside, and wanted to bring aspects of our love for nature into the decor. Our goal was to give our venue a comfy and homey vibe,” explains the bride.

A refurbished barn created the perfect atmosphere for the couple’s theme. “The renovated barn had so much character, and also had white lanterns hanging from the ceiling. We really didn’t need to go overboard on decorations because it was so beautiful on its own,” shares Brittany

Brittany admits its hard to pick a favourite moment from such an incredibly special day. “Having all our family and friends there with us to celebrate was amazing — how often do you have all the people you love the most all together for a day?” smiles the bride.

Robyn and Todd met through mutual best friends. “I was traveling back and forth from my home in P.E.I. to New Brunswick, and once I met Todd the visits became more and more frequent,” laughs Robyn.

The couple got engaged at their home, with the help of a furry friend. “Todd had tied the ring onto our dog Mulligan’s collar, so when I got home I caught a glimpse of the shiny ring. Once I turned around I saw Todd on one knee, asking me to be his wife,” smiles Robyn.

The couple chose to celebrate their big day in a place close to Robyn’s heart. “P.E.I. has always been, my home and I knew there was no other place I would rather get married,” explains Robyn.
